Due to the nature of a counsellors direct responsibility with campers there is a higher standard for those wishing to volunteer as counsellors vs other areas of ministry at camp. The Camp Counsellor is responsible for the spiritual and physical care of the campers under their care. This is not a babysitting job or an extra week of camp as a camper. The counsellor’s goal is to make a spiritual impact on each of their campers. Therefore this role is a 24 hour a day job and the most important role at camp.

The general responsibilities of a counsellor at camp are:

Be a Godly example in your conduct both in life and at camp
Mentor and disciple all campers under your care
Provide Physical, emotional and spiritual care for all campers under your care
Assist and participate in all aspects of the camper program

Therefore, the qualifications for counsellors at camp Shekinah are as follows...

A counsellor must exemplify a Biblical, Christlike lifestyle.
A counsellor must be a professing Christian who is committed to Christ and believes the Jesus Died for our sins and rose from the dead.
A Counsellor must have a desire to be fully immersed in the camp program during the week of camp.
A Counsellor must have a care for people and a desire to see campers come to know Christ as their Saviour.
