All supplies necessary for the creation of the artwork will be provided and funded by U.D.T.J. and Amistad Law Project and through sponsors and additional donations. The artist (or artist team) will design and paint the mural on site. All eligible property owners should apply as soon as possible to be eligible for the first initial round of murals. The mural will be durable, low maintenance, and appropriate for the location. The program will take into consideration the high amounts of pedestrian traffic and the proximity to transportation hubs.
U.D.T.J. will work with the property owner to establish basic guidelines for the artists.
All designs will be subject to review and approval by the Property Owner and the U.D.T.J. Mural Arts Program.
Artwork of cultural and social movements regardless of politicization will still be considered.
Budget:
The current budget for each of the mural artworks is dependent on size and design. The project's budget will determine the feasibility of the proposal. The budget includes all costs associated with the project including, but not limited to: artist’s design fee, artist stipends, travel costs, materials, fabrication costs, and installation of the work. U.D.T.J. and Amistad Law Project will fundraise and fund the entire cost of the mural relating to artist’s design fee, artist stipends, and travel costs.
The cost of materials, fabrication costs, and installation of the work can be covered either entirely by U.D.T.J. or in collaboration with sponsoring community groups, nonprofits, etc. that will increase the likelihood of project approval.
Sponsoring community groups, nonprofits, businesses, tenants, and more will be considered to have a stake in the proposed mural's design with the property owner's approval.
Eligibility:
The program is open to all property owners, locations, community groups, nonprofits, and individuals in Upper Darby Township.
