Climate Change in Your Community: How have you witnessed climate change impacting people in your district?
Renewable energy: Legislation has been introduced in Minnesota that calls for Minnesota to transition to 100% clean electricity production by 2050. We know this transition must happen much sooner. If elected, would you support transitioning our electric system to 100% renewable energy? Why or why not? *
Fossil Fuel Infrastructure: For the past several years, MN350 and our partner organizations have been fighting the proposed Enbridge Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline replacement project in Northern Minnesota, which threatens tribal sovereignty and climate safety. Do you oppose construction of the Line 3 oil pipeline? How would you handle major fossil fuel infrastructure projects like this in the future? *
Just transition: Low-income households and communities of color are often the first to feel the impacts of pollution and climate change, and should be at the forefront of the transition to renewable energy. Do you have a plan to prioritize resources for an equitable distribution of sustainable technologies and other climate solutions? Please elaborate.  How would you prioritize equitable access to renewable energy, energy efficiency, weatherization, and zero- and low-emission transportation or other climate solutions? *
Electrification: As we shift to cleaner sources of electricity, how would you support shifts towards the electrification of gas-powered buildings, vehicles, and appliances? How would you specifically establish support for low-income families and historically under-resourced communities? *
Transportation: The transportation sector is now the largest producer of carbon emissions in our state. How would you work to reform our transportation system to phase out gasoline use in an equitable and accessible way? How would you prioritize communities currently underserved by public transit, and communities with the worst air quality? *
Agriculture: How, in your role as a state legislator, would you work to create a more sustainable agricultural system in our state? More specifically, how can state policy be utilized to promote carbon sequestration in our agricultural system and ensure our state’s water quality? How will you work to ensure we have an agriculture system that works for family farmers, young farmers, BIPOC farmers, and not just large industrial Ag? *
Divestment: The Minnesota State Retirement System has 3 billion dollars invested in the top 200 fossil fuel companies. Will you actively push the state of Minnesota to divest from fossil fuel companies and reinvest in green or renewable energy? *
Campaign finance: Will you sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, promising to not take campaign contributions from the oil, gas, and coal industries and instead prioritize the health of our families, climate, and democracy over fossil fuel industry profits? Public Opinion: If elected, will you commit to work with MN350 Action, other community organizations, and other elected officials to build consensus for bold climate action?  What experience do you have participating in or building a coalition with community organizations to support climate justice policies? *
Free Speech: In recent legislative sessions, bills have been introduced that would threaten the ability of individuals and organizations such as MN350 to actively engage in peaceful protest without the risk of criminal prosecution. If elected, would you actively oppose any similar legislation if it was introduced? *
