About the Class:
Honors English is for students who like to read and write! We do SEVERAL similar activities, assignments, and units as the standard English 9 class, BUT the main differences are:
- We go more in depth on our topics!
- We do some of our work independently (like independent reading, writing, and some assignments)
- We go more in depth on our topics!
- We regularly engage in discussions (partners, teams, and as a whole class)!
- We move through material a bit faster through each unit!
- We are surrounded by classmates that want to learn and are generally interested in becoming better readers and writers.
The Ideal Honors Student:
- Enjoys reading! (You don't have to love everything you ever read, but generally enjoys getting caught up in a story, adventure, or tale
- Wants to become a better writer!
- Enjoys interesting conversations! (some themes include survival, love, fate, heroes, and more
- Is motivated to work with others and keep up with deadlines
- Is always wanting to improve and doesn’t settle for
less than what they know they can achieve!
