The City of Melrose is seeking artists to create site-specific art installations as part of the Wayfinding & Creative Placemaking Initiative. This is part of a long-range plan to engage with the local community to create public art and to improve the experience of residents and visitors to the City of Melrose.
We hope to commission 3 – 5 projects for completion this summer. Projects may be $1,000 to 10,000, inclusive of all expenses. The Initiative is funded through a grant secured for this purpose.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:

This call is open to those who live or work in Massachusetts, preferably within a 50-mile radius of Melrose.
•
We request that projects engage with the Melrose community and can pair up as needed.
•
We have identified specific City-owned sites in Melrose but you may propose your own.
•
All materials safe and suitable for outdoor use may be considered.
•
Work proposed may be temporary or permanent.
•
Artists will be evaluated based on their previous work.
•
Please describe your idea but designs are not requested at this time.
•
The City will assist when possible with wall prep, installation, etc.
