Western North Carolina Historical Association (WNCHA) cannot insure the safety of any participant on this hike or activity, nor can any partnering organization. Each participant, whether WNCHA member or guest, must sign this sheet. In doing so, participants agree to release from liability the leader(s), the Smith-McDowell House Museum, WNCHA, Inc., its Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, members, and any participating partners for any accident, injury, illness, or personal loss which might occur while participating in this activity or while traveling in any vehicle during this trip. Please consult with your physician before starting any exercise program.

Each participant further agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of WNCHA and its partnering organizations concerning hiker or paddler safety, to follow the instructions of the leader(s), and not to become intentionally separated from the group, either ahead or behind. These regulations include but are not limited to wearing a life jacket or PFD at all times during river floats, staying on the trail or river route as indicated by activity leaders, and adequately addressing your personal hydration, nutrition, and medication needs before, during, and after an activity.
