Amplify Lawrence is a week-long music camp for girls, nonbinary, and trans youth in Lawrence, Kansas.
This year, camp is taking place from JULY 21st to JULY 25th at the Lied Center. Camp hours are 9am-5pm each day. Our Camper Showcase is Saturday JULY 26th at Liberty Hall.
Our camp is grounded in social justice and community connection. We are dedicated to helping campers think with a growth mindset, work in collaboration with their peers, and center marginalized musicians, past and present to think about ways they can be active participants in their communities.
Amplify Lawrence has volunteers that are experts in musical knowledge, conflict mediation, and art-based practices. We work together to challenge campers to think outside of the box, try something new, and up their performance skills.
Campers are placed in a band with peers around their age, the bands write an original song, spend the week practicing it, and prepare to present it to their family and friends at our Saturday showcase. Bands will also spend the morning of the 26th recording their song at the Lawrence Public Library. Later in winter, we will have a CD release party for campers to reconnect and take their songs home with them!
We provide a light breakfast, full lunch, and afternoon snacks each day of camp. Campers will also receive a camp t-shirt and other cool stuff from local businesses that support Amplify.
Camp tuition is $350.
*Financial Aid is available, please see question below. We work to ensure that all campers who want to attend, can! Please put down preferred contact email as we may require responses in reference to camp before camp dates.
