Take your skill to the next level! Join us for a new two-week intensive training where students will be immersed in the world of Cole Porter’s musical comedy, Kiss Me, Kate! With audition preparation, classes, rehearsals, and guest artists, our teaching artists will inspire future performers, build confidence, and provide foundational training for those considering auditioning for college theatre programs or pursuing careers in musical theatre. Students will be divided into small ensembles based on their audition so our teaching artists can adapt instruction that meets students where they are and provides additional challenges for students with previous experience. From Shakespeare to Slapstick, students will perform scenes, songs, and choreography from the classic musical, Kiss Me, Kate, culminating in a public performance on the final afternoon of the session.
NOTE: The following submission materials are required to complete this application:
1. Interview Video: Please create and upload a simple video without any filters or editing where you speak directly to the camera and answer the following questions (maximum video length 2 minutes):
- Why do you want to be a part of this intensive program?
- What do you hope to learn or take away from the program?
- What has your experience in the performing arts meant to you thus far in your life? Or if you do not have a tremendous amount of experience yet, what do you hope to gain from being a part of this program?
2. Audition Video: Please create a second video where you sing 32-bars of music from a musical theatre song (with or without accompaniment).
For both videos, please save and name them: "Your First Name Your Last Name MTI 2024 Interview" (for example, Cole Porter MTI 2024 Interview) and "Your First Name Your Last Name MTI 2024 Audition" (for example, Cole Porter MTI 2024 Audition) and upload to Dropbox via the link provided at the end of this registration form.
Your application submission will not be completed and will not be reviewed until both submission videos have been uploaded. Please reach out to Verity Hwang at hwang@orpheum-memphis.com with any questions.
