‘MOVE TO MOVE BEYOND’ WORKSHOP
Facilitated by Director of Engagement Amy Miller
Move to Move Beyond (MTMB) is an evidence-based workshop experience originally developed in partnership with social workers and survivors of gender-based violence. As the central dynamic of abusive relationships is one entity exerting power and control over another, this movement workshop offers opportunities to reclaim a sense of personal autonomy, agency and choice within a supportive collective. As we all know what it’s like to have our choices taken away from us on a small or big scale, this experience can be a transformative time of self-realization and skill-building for anyone. Somatic-based movement practices invite healthier nervous system responses to stimuli while invitations to individually respond to movement prompts move us toward combining our choices in a way that the ‘I’ is not lost in the ‘We.’
