2021 Mental Health Minute campaign
Thank you for your interest in the 2021 Mental Health Minute campaign.

We are delighted to let you know that community, commercial, and BBC radio stations will be uniting once again to broadcast a special and important message in support of mental health awareness – and we would love for your station to support the initiative.

Radiocentre has partnered with the Community Media Association to mobilise the not-for-profit radio sector - community radio, hospital radio, and Internet-based community stations - to participate in the 2021 Mental Health Minute campaign.

Taking place for a 4th year, the Mental Health Minute sees famous voices from the worlds of sport, music, film and more take to the airwaves all over the UK at exactly the same time, utilising radio’s immense power to spark important conversation across the nation.

As in previous years, the message will mark Mental Health Awareness Week but in a change for 2021, the minute will playout at 10:59am on Friday 14 May to mark the end of the week and remind audiences that the focus on good mental health doesn’t end when the week does and to continue the conversation.

This year’s creative treatment will be written by mental health expert and poet, Hussain Manawer. Led by Radiocentre and supported by The Royal Foundation’s Heads Together charity, the simulcast will once again be produced by Somethin’ Else. It will also be backed by a social media campaign with assets available for every station to use.

2020’s Mental Health Minute was broadcast across 500 radio stations and reached more than 20 million people across the UK. It featured The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, alongside England captain Harry Kane, singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, actor David Tennant and heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. As well as creating a landmark moment for British radio with the moment gaining coverage from around the world and trending across social media.

We will be in touch later with further details but please indicate if you wish to take part in this year’s initiative by completing the form below.

It should be noted that Mental Health Minute is an awareness campaign to highlight the growing issue of mental health and is not a fundraiser in aid of any particular charity.

We are still discussing with Radiocentre when the final copy will be delivered but it will be in good time. There will also be a pack including digital assets, a film of the audio, press releases and suggestions of editorial.

Please indicate below if your station will be participating in the campaign and you may also leave some feedback about why this campaign is important to your radio station.
