Safe Medford Redirecting Resources March 2021
Safe Medford encourages its members and allies to redirect stimulus payments and other resources to help some of those most affected by the pandemic and resulting economic crisis. We especially encourage support for The Welcome Project and MAMAS (Mutual Aid Medford and Somerville), organizations that provide immediate assistance to people needing help with groceries, rent, utilities, and other needs. We invite you to use the form below to indicate your 2021 pledges or donations to one or both of these two organizations. Information about how to donate to each group is provided in the descriptions. Pledges and reports of donations are completely anonymous.

Donate to The Welcome Project
The Welcome Project builds the collective power of immigrants to participate in and shape communities in Medford and Somerville. They have raised $280,000 since April 2020 and have provided support with partial utility or rental payments to over 700 households. They have also been able to send some families Market Basket gift cards and help others complete applications for rental assistance through state programs like RAFT. Safe Medford has the goal of raising $6000 for The Welcome Project.

Donate to MAMAS
MAMAS is a multilingual mutual aid network. Its extensive network of local volunteers offers grocery deliveries, emotional support, and many other services. Since March 2020, MAMAS has redistributed $312,000.00 for rental and grocery assistance and other needs. They have talked with more than 1600 people and made 5–20 grocery deliveries a day. In addition, MAMAS organizers have been advocating for housing justice and other policy changes to combat inequality. Safe Medford has the goal of raising $6000 for MAMAS.
