The IE 2030 Youth Art contest is calling on artists that live and/or work in the Inland Empire to submit their interpretation of “Belonging” for a cash award. The IE 2030 project utilized the Seven Vital Conditions for Health and Well-Being framework to guide the project. The Vital Signs framework identifies 7 key domains of life that impact and improve the lives of residents in a community. One of those major domains is “Belonging.”
Belonging is defined as: “Having fulfilling relationships and social support that people need to thrive. It’s about being part of a community and contributing to its vibrancy.”
Freedom Dreaming: Belonging and Art
The IE 2030 community is asking regional artists to submit art that reflects their definition or vision of what belonging or “home” looks like for their community. What does it look like to thrive in your community? Some examples of how you can highlight belonging are:
Bold Visioning - aspirational visions for your community, or for places and the region more generally
Asset Mapping - amazing people, places, or projects that point the way to a dramatically better future in the region
Freedom Dreaming - think of an issue you care about and share your vision of the world you want to see through your art
