Here’s your chance to DREAM BIG with us! The Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center is collaborating with the Neighborhood Design Center to create proposals for the future renovation and extension of our space.

We would like your feedback in this survey to incorporate your thoughts, needs, and aspirations as a stakeholder in this next chapter of our museum. We will use this information to produce some options for the design of our new space. Take the survey by July 31st to win a free virtual tour of our newest exhibit!

We have developed a set of design principles for PGAAMCC based on what we have heard from the community – please choose 3 that you think are the most important

1. It should include all people with multigenerational programs and spaces accessible for people with different abilities.

2. It should connect to nature with outdoor spaces and provide an interactive experience, which engages the senses.

3. It should have spaces to learn and share ideas as well as safe spaces for quiet reflection.

4. It should support and promote African American artists, crafts people, performers and designers in Prince Georges County.

5. It should support education and provide access to materials and space.

6. It should encourage creativity, pride and ownership.

7. It should represent the past, present and future of the African American community in Prince George’s county and offer support for documenting family history.

8. It should be welcoming and easy to engage feeling like an extension of home.

9. A visit to the space should be transformative, the materials and design elements should be aspirational.

10. The building should be a landmark for history and culture in Prince Georges County.
