-Do I have to audition if I'm already in choir?
If you are in GoldenVoice or Cecilia and want to remain in that choir, you do not have to audition again. If you would like to join a choir that you're not currently a member of, you will have to audition for that choir. This is most common for girls who are in Cecilia and would like to be in GoldenVoice. Sounds of Providence members must audition annually.
-What if I've never been in choir before?
Don't worry about it! That's literally my job to teach you how to sing! I won't put anyone in a choir in which I don't think they can be successful. As long as you are willing to put in the work, I can teach you how to sing!
-What if I'm in band or orchestra? Can I do both?
Absolutely! One of the unique strengths of our department is that you can do it all! At the beginning of the year, we will discuss how to split rehearsal time, and you will be expected to be adequately prepared for all ensembles of which you are a member.
-Does this mean I'll be in the Music Kairos?
Yes, participation in any music ensemble means that you must be a part of the Music Kairos. This is because some of our most important rehearsals happen during Kairos, and we want to make sure everyone's schedule is set up to be there!
-How will we keep the auditions as safe as possible?
Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes in advance for your audition time. There will be someone just inside the main entrance to check you in for your audition. After you are checked in, you will go directly to the media center and either begin your audition immediately or sit in the designated waiting area. Masks are obligatory, except for when you are singing. During your audition, there will be a spot marking where you should stand. After your audition, you will head directly out of the building, so that others can be as safe as possible during their audition. Thank you for your cooperation with these guidelines!
