Enjoy the great outdoors, AND help the City of Boise restore critical wildlife habitat by transplanting 600 native shrubs from their summer growing home off Vista and Overland to the Boise River riparian wetland near Willow Lane Athletic Complex. The Boise River riparian zone is home to and a transit route for wildlife who depend on this area for food and shelter. Enhancement of native shrubs helps reduce invasive plant species, maintain natural ecological processes, sustain air and water resources, and contribute to the health and quality of life in our community. This is a family-friendly event, so please sign-up your children & grandchildren.

Sun, Nov 8, two shifts, 10 am-noon and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Willow Lane Park near the boat ramp: Plant seedlings in their permanent home.

Back up for Sat, Nov 7, 10 am - 1 pm, Overland & Vista: Dig up seedlings from their temporary home when the spring planting was canceled. (Please accept our apologies. Spots on Saturday have been filled. We are keeping a back-up list in case of cancellations.)

Transplanting will be by hand and will involve walking, digging, kneeling, and bending over to plant. To protect each other, we will maintain social distancing, wear protective masks at all times, and refrain from sharing tools. Make sure to bring your own or your family's own:
* shovels & gloves,
* protective masks,
* hiking shoes/boots, jackets,
* water bottle, water, and snacks.
