Volunteer Form: Support Circles & Debriefing
We are working on developing two programs to address the support needs of health and social care workers who are tending to humanitarian crisis. If you are interested in participating please complete this survey. The Steering Committee for Support Circles will review the surveys, match interests and availability and respond to you with more information. This information will ONLY be used for these two programs and will be confidential.
Circles of Support are based on the "Buddy System", which was a model for front line support used successfully in war times and during the pandemic. The idea is that a group of health care workers volunteer their time and commitment to being in touch with workers "on the front lines" to offer support for them as they continue their work under difficult circumstances. Contacts will take the form of check ins and virtual meetings at a frequency that fits best for the circle participants. The focus is on the safety and well being of those in the stress zones.
Debriefings are peer facilitated virtual groups organized to offer health care workers social support and an opportunity to give voice to the difficult nature of their work.
Neither of these programs are intended as therapy or crisis intervention, but rather peer support for our colleagues in the refugee and war zones.
