Jumpstart Summer
Jumpstart is a national early education organization that works with underserved preschool children in schools and community centers. Through an evidence-based curriculum, Jumpstart strives to develop language and literacy skills that youth need to be ready for school, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap. Jumpstart Georgetown is a program of the Center for Social Justice.

Jumpstart Corps Members have the unique opportunity to inspire young children to learn, serve in a local community, work on a team, and build professional skills. All Corps members receive high quality training to help them implement Jumpstart’s outcome-based program, promote children’s school success, and build family involvement.

Different from the academic year, over the summer Jumpstart corps members have the opportunity to gain experience in a 35-40 hour per week, immersive classroom experience. Teams will spend the majority of their day at the partner school - split between working in the daytime classroom under professional teachers, preparing for session individually and with their team, as well as implementing session. This increased time at the schools will allow for more professional development and hands-on experience than the academic year program provides, and would more fully prepare those interested in teaching to pursue that path.
