What is Camp Joy?
We live in a world that does not value life. After Roe v. Wade, many babies were aborted. But with advances in prenatal testing, many mentally and physically handicapped babies were aborted. Camp Joy is a camp that values life. It is a camp for the mentally and physically handicapped.
The “special friends” (e.g., campers) come from around the region for a week of camp and, in turn, their parents receive a week of rest or respite.
Camp Joy includes many of the activities available at other camps—ziplines, swimming, lake activities, etc—but it is specifically designed to teach the “special friends” about Christ. The name JOY fits—Jesus comes first, then Others, & lastly You.
What is the purpose of this year’s Camp Joy Serving Team?
Each year, a specific church commits to provide adults to set up, serve, & clean up after meals—in order to lower the cost for “special friends” to attend.
This year, our church has been given the opportunity to provide a team to serve.
