Course title: Essentials of Scalable Systems for Scientists

Course description: This course aims to equip the students with a basic understanding of computer architecture that will be needed to design efficient and scalable codes. After discussing the basics of serial architectures, we will proceed to discuss parallel architectures and parallel programming models.

Tentatively, I plan to conduct two lectures a week (1.5 hour each), one for the concepts and theory and the other to discuss the practical aspects, including problems, experiments and tutorials for useful tools. The C programming language will be used for examples and experiments.

Tentative timings:
Fridays and Saturdays every week (6:00-7:30 PM)
Start date: 12 January 2023 (Friday)
End date: 16 March 2023 (Saturday)
