Sheila describes "Feel for the Water" and Learning
Do you know what she's talking about when she says "impulses"?  How would YOU describe your feel for the water?
Can "feel for the water" be learned?  Can a person learn a sport even if they weren't naturally good at it as a little kid?
Why can't you just put your hand in the water and pull right away and move your arms really fast, why won't that work?
After you enter the water, what do you need to do BEFORE you pull?
Shelia creating water pressure on her hands
Sheila's Sculling Vortex
Why can't swimmers take feel for granted?
She is talking about how she's going in and out of her feel throughout the video, what do you think she's feeling when she does and doesn't have "feel"?
Look at her elbows and shoulders:

What's the difference between shoving water and creating traction on the water, and why is this important in swimming?
This is Digg sculling, watch how his elbows stay up and the surface and when it goes to slow motion, watch how his sculling motion kind of "clears the bubbles" out of the way, like he's cleaning the water.  Like he's making a wind in there and using the wind to hold himself in the current.
The Friction that Sheila is talking about is further explained here:
When you push the water, the water pushes back on you in the opposite direction.  The harder you can push on the water the more power you have to climb forward.  But it's WATER, which is kind of like AIR and you can't push on water or air unless it acts like a solid.  How do you get the water to be more "solid" for you?
A Swimmer in motion will stay in motion unless stopped by another force.  What slows you down in swimming?
So you're creating force to overcome drag.  You can either create more force or less drag to go faster, or better yet, do both.   What can you do to reduce drag?  What can you do increase force?
How can you change the position of your hands to hold the water better out front?  What would Megan say about the swimmer's elbow position in relation to the surface of the water in this video?
When the yellow circle is around the swimmer's feet, how do the shape of the swimmer's feet change and what does this have to do with Megan's "Pumas"?
Fingers are NOT together...
Why have the fingers spread a little bit apart?
Why is a "fingers slightly open" position better than a  "fingers closed" position?
The next time you ride in a car, stick your hand out the window and play with how far your fingers can be apart before you start feeling the air slip through.  How  does this inform how you should hold your hands in the water in order to find and hold onto the most water you can?
A Little Testing:  How many proper pushups can you do in a row? (If you think your number will be more than 20 do then with a 2 count drop, a 2 count hold at the bottom, and a 2 count rise and let me know that's how you did them).
In a streamline on your back, how far can you get through the alphabet?  (If you don't know what I'm talking about, go back to Day 1)
How many V situps can you do?:
On the Wall Slide test, how far can you raise your arms overhead?
