Appalachian Grown Farmer Immediate Needs Grant - Application

This grant is intended to support farms with significant losses due to disasters. Farmers may apply for up to $500 to cover immediate needs and expenses towards cleaning, replanting, repairing, or other costs not covered through insurance or other available programs that will allow the farm to quickly respond or recover. At this time, the grant is available only to farms dealing with a disaster that has been officially declared at the federal, state, or county level. Qualifying farms must be Appalachian Grown certified. Nonprofits are not eligible at this time.

Priority will be given to farmers who 1) face a significant loss due to flooding or other natural disaster; 2) depend on the farm business for more than 50 percent of their household income; 3) have limited resources or identify as BIPOC; and 4) will use funds to cover costs not eligible through insurance or other available programs.

This program is supported by the Appalachian Grown Farmer Relief Fund. Please encourage your customers, communities, and networks to donate to the fund to help us support as many farms as possible (asapconnections.org/donate).

Conditions of ASAP’s Appalachian Grown Immediate Needs Grant: I understand that this application is for a grant of $500 to be used for tangible materials or tools needed for farm businesses to respond to or recover from recent natural disasters, not covered by insurance or other available programs. This does not include salaries, overhead, or operating expenses. I agree to adhere to the approved, allowable expenditures as identified in my application for funding. I will maintain receipts for all grant expenditures for up to one year from grant award date. Any changes to grant award expenditures must be approved prior to purchase. I certify that no one in my family or farm operation has received an Appalachian Grown Immediate Needs Grant from ASAP in the past 12 months.
