River Valley Cycling's 2022 Membership Survey
We're trusting you to tell us whether the brakes are squeaky.
RVC has had a really great year but we are not seeing it in terms of our membership rebounding to pre-pandemic levels. Please take a 5-10 minutes to let us know what we're doing well and where we need to improve. We've set this survey up to be anonymous so please be honest with us.

Are you a 2022 RVC Member?
*
Yes. I think there's value in the club.
No. I'm a former member but decided not to re-join this year.
I don't know if I'm a current member. Maybe? I forget if I renewed this year.
No. I've never been a member. Why am I filling out this survey?
If you're a
former
member who decided not to renew, can you tell us why? We want to hear from you. For all others, please just skip ahead and leave this blank.
Your answer
Tell us about your riding ability.
*
Choose
Beginner. I'm just beginning to ride singletrack trails.
Novice. I've been riding for a while but I still have difficulty on the trails due to my skills and/or fitness.
Intermediate. I consider myself to be a good rider who is capable on most trails.
Advanced. There's not much around Fredericton that I wouldn't at least try.
Expert. I like to ride fast and take lots of chances.
Not a rider - I like to support the trails but I use them to hike or run.
Tell us about where (and how often) you ride around Fredericton from spring to late fall.
*
Often. About every week.
Regularly. Once in most months.
Sometimes. At least once a season.
Never.

What's important to you when you go out mountain biking? Please check all that are apply.
*
Trail flow. That sense of weaving through the woods.
Technical trail features. A challenge that I have to work on to master.
Connecting with my fellow riders. I like the social aspect.
Connecting with nature. Trees. Birds. Water. Earth. (everything but the mosquitos)
Fitness and exercise. Look at these calves!

RVC has been offering a lot more in in 2022 for events and programming (Getting Ready to Ride Series, Fast 5 Skills Session, Woolastook 4 Race, RVC Weekly Social Rides). What do you think of the available programming?
*
These programs are great and being able to participate is really important for me.
I get that these things are important to others, but I don't see anything that interests me.
I want to participate, but there are barriers that are preventing me from joining RVC's rides / races / events
Other:
Is there anything else you want to tell us about our 2022 events / programs? Any ideas for how we should improve?
Your answer
How has RVC been doing with acquiring / maintaining access to trail networks?
*
Access to trail networks is getting better. I see RVC's actions to keep riding areas open.
Trail closures are chipping away at what we have to ride. I don't think RVC is really helping much.
I don't know. Trail access isn't something I really think about.
Other:
Is there anything else you want to tell us about trail access issues? Places that need more attention?
Your answer
RVC supports and organizes trail improvements and maintenance. How have we been doing on trail work?
*
I think the trails are in great shape. Thanks RVC.
I see that RVC is doing work elsewhere, but the place that I ride most is getting a little rough.
RVC is doing trail work? I couldn't tell.

RVC relies on volunteers to get things done (
events, trail work, etc
). Tell us about how willing you are to get involved.
*
I have the time and interest. I'd love to do more to help RVC. I'm looking for opportunities to get involved.
I may be willing to help - but it would have to fit into my schedule - and it would have to be a small commitment.
I'm supporting RVC through my membership. I'm happy to do that but I don't have the time or interest for much more.
Not really interested.
RVC's current membership cost is $30 for an individual or $60 for a family living in the same household. Wintertime riding is a separate membership. How do you feel about this price?
*
Very reasonable and not an issue for me.
It's a factor for me to consider before joining. Especially with all of the other sports / club memberships I'm paying.
It's a barrier.
RVC notices that a lot of people get part-way through the membership process, but that they don't go through with the payment. Does this sound familiar?
*
Nope. I had no troubles getting my membership the first time I tried.
Yep. I had some technical / password issues but I went back later on and paid.
Yes. I remember getting frustrated and I don't know if I ever tried it again.
If RVC could figure out a smooth system. Would you be willing to set up an annual automatic renewal of your membership?
*
Yes. I like easy things.
Ok... but please send me a reminder with an opt-out before you charge me.
No thanks.
