In order to receive National Board Certification, candidates must show an understanding of content knowledge, their students, data and assessments, and their teaching practice by creating three evidence-based portfolios and passing a computer-based assessment.
If you are in a high-priority OUSD school, you can earn a $6,000 annual stipend ($5,000 from the California Department of Education) plus $1,000 (from OUSD)after completing Board certification. Teachers pursuing Board Certification through UC Berkeley's National Board Resource Center can: Gain Advanced Pedagogical Skills: Learn research-based strategies to engage students and enhance learning outcomes.
Earn Professional Recognition: The National Board certification is widely recognized and the most respected certification in K-12 education, opening doors to new career opportunities and advancement.
