This book club will read and discuss Gentle and Lowly written by Dane Ortlund. Many believers learn what they should think about Jesus, but many do not learn what Jesus thinks about them. Ortlund will walk us through various passages to discover the heart of Jesus and his heart for his people. Copies of the book will be given away at our HCC bookstand after service. You can pick up a copy there. We’ll meet every week on Sunday from 8:00-9:00pm starting on 9/12.

John Piper’s book Desiring God persuasively argued that “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.” But many people, after being persuaded, find that truth to be both liberating and devastating. It’s liberating to discover that God is for your joy. He wants you to be content in him. But it’s devastating to realize how far we fall short from a regular experience of joyful satisfaction in the Lord. So what do I do when I don’t desire God as I should? That is why Piper wrote this book and the question we hope to explore in our book club. The book can be found on Amazon (ISBN 1433543176).
