Our Denver Public Schools Superintendent, Alex Marrero has tasked CEC with determining whether or not our community would like to request a School Resource Officer (SRO) for the 2023-24 school year.
The School Resource Officer is a Police Officer with the Denver Police Department that has specialized training to work with kids in schools. At this time it is not clear whether we would get an SRO if we request one, because the funding source is unclear, and it is unclear whether our School Board will vote to reintroduce SROs to Denver Public Schools.
However, we have the opportunity to share our feedback with the Superintendent and as a community determine whether or not we want to request that an SRO be placed at CEC.
