The Governor M. Jodi Rell Center for Public Service at the
University of Hartford promotes integrity in government and public service as well as responsible participation in public life.
We believe civil discourse is critical to the strength and robustness of our democratic systems and integrity is a lifelong pursuit.
The Center’s Annual Civility Award seeks to highlight the ways that teachers, schools, and school groups can encourage others to positively spread civility, respect and collaboration.
Can you think of a group —maybe a classroom, a student club, a grade, or an entire school— that has promoted integrity, civility, respect, or collaboration through a program, project, or initiative?
This award recognizes a group for their work to raise the bar for civil discourse in American society. Perhaps their initiative has encouraged dialogue, fostered engagement, led to action, educated, or modeled civility in public discourse? If so, we want to learn more about it!
Self-nominations are WELCOME!
We anticipate making awards at both the K-12 level and for projects at institutions of higher education.
Review of Applications begins April 30, 2024
