Inspecting Fall Protection Equipment
Workers who are required to wear fall protection must inspect their equipment prior to use for any damage or defects:
- Check the body harness for frayed edges, heavy wear or chemical damage
- Check the buckles for sharp edges or distortion, check the rivets for cracks or chemical distortion
- Check the lanyard for wear, cuts in the fibre or bulges
If damage or heavy wear is seen red tag the equipment for inspection by the site CSO. DO NOT USE.
A worker in a fall arrest situation is only as safe as the equipment allows them to be. Faulty equipment could lead to a fall from height or worse.
Any questions or concerns around a site’s fall protection equipment should be forwarded to the site CSO and Arkay for follow-up.
