One of the goals of the Gustavus Recreation Program is to encourage students to get active and allow greater access to outdoor adventures. Trying to go outdoors and plan a trip may be fun but gear is something that is necessary, and not all of us may have the right equipment.  The lending program is here for you.

To request a gear loan, fill out the form on this page or email us at g-lending@gustavus.edu. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the gear loaning process.  We loan tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, stoves, hiking backpacks, cooking utensils, kayaks, bikes and more! 

If you are planning on using gear for an upcoming trip, the earlier you submit the request the better to ensure all the gear you need is available. 

Feel free to swing into the Recreation Program Office (JSU-222) to check out gear in person as well, or to talk with student workers or the coordinator about the process. 

Loaning gear is FREE! We just ask that you ensure the gear is returned in good condition. Accidents happen, and we’ll address it on a case-by-case basis.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Official check-out/check-in times are on Mondays and Fridays during chapel break. If you select this option, you should expect not to get an email in response, instead it is up to you to come in during your selected time. 

For checking-out/checking-in gear at all other times of the week, a student worker will email you about a time that works for you to come in to the office as soon as they are assigned to your request. 

By requesting to borrow gear you affirm that you will report any damages to the worker when returning it so they can fix it. We understand that accidents happen, we just don't want to give others damaged gear by accident. You also affirm that you will return the gear CLEAN, DRY, and PACKED THE WAY YOU GOT IT
