Dayton's Caravan of Lights is intended to bring cheer to our neighborhoods during the holidays. Entries will be judged on originality, lighting display, and spirit. Awards given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Caravan participants will gather at staging area, at 4 pm, in their vehicles decorated with holiday lights, line up and head out together on a mapped route through Dayton.

Caravan applicants need to be age 18 or older, and the person filling out this form.

After you submit your application, we will send a confirmation with Staging Location and the Route Map. Timeline for event:
4pm - Arrive at staging area, park
4:30-5:15 - Judging and awards
5:30 - Group departs staging area, in a caravan or convoy of vehicles
5:30 - 7:30 - Caravan of Lights follows mapped route throughout Dayton.

Caravan Rules - check each box after you read it: *

2. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE ILLUMINATED. The more lights you have the better your entry will look. Each entry must meet the minimum light requirements. Vehicles pulling lighted trailers must have lights also.

3. All entries are required to have a positive theme which is family friendly, respectful and is non-controversial.

4. The applicant/responsible party must be age 18 or over.

5. Nothing may be thrown from any entry. Nothing may be offered from vehicle for residents to come get.

6. No constant blowing of sirens, or horns. Playing holiday music is ok, we just need to know in advance.

7. Any gasoline-fueled generator must be quiet and exhausted 12” outside of any contained areas. Entries with generators are required to carry a fire extinguisher.

8. Entries must arrive at the staging location at the time specified by the Caravan Committee. And Caravan participants will follow direction to line up, park, start out, and follow the mapped Caravan Route. Map to be provided.

9. Each vehicle needs a licensed driver, and a person to help navigate the mapped route.

10. NO alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the staging area or on any entry.

11. ABSOLUTELY NO SANTA ENTRIES. The one, in person, SANTA will be provided by the Caravan Committee. Anyone can do Santa inflatables or Santa hats.

12. BE PREPARED: For bad weather. Also, there are no porta-potties or rest room facilities.

13. All participants are expected to know and abide by all Caravan rules. Please provide a copy of the rules and maps to all participants in your entry. The person who signs the application or waiver release form is responsible to share the information.

14. OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS! There will be NO flaggers at intersections to hold back traffic. Because the Caravan is only motorized vehicles, they must be road worthy and compliant and you must obey all traffic signs. Be aware of other traffic using the roads along the mapped route. All Drivers must have a DRIVER’S LICENSE and PROOF OF INSURANCE.

15. The Dayton Community Development Association has the right to refuse any application or entry at any time.

16. I understand that I must agree to the Waiver/Release and Assumption of the Risk of Liability below.

Waiver/Release and Assumption of the Risk of Liability: I have read and understand all Caravan rules and agree to be responsible for the above-mentioned entry and participants and their compliance of all rules. I agree to inform all entry participants and their parents/guardians of all rules. The undersigned understands that participating in a caravan/parade on city streets/property may be dangerous and cause bodily injury and property damage, and that I hereby waive my right to sue the Dayton Community Development Association and/or the City of Dayton for any damages. I fully release them from this liability and expressly assume the risk of being injured by participating in the caravan/parade. On behalf of the above mentioned applicant I agree to indemnify and hold harmless and release the Dayton Community Development Association and/or The City of Dayton , its agents and employees from any liability of any injury suffered while participating in this event and will assume all risk for any injuries. The Dayton Community Development Association has the right to refuse any application at any time. *
