2. Language Revitalization/Indigenous Literacy,
3. Arts and Culture Integration,
4. and Indigenizing Education
Deadline for Proposal Submission is extended to April 21, 2024.
Our Cultural Landscape: Culturally Responsive Education Conference will be held in person at the University of Alaska, Southeast Campus on August 7th, 8th, and 9th. Selected presentations will also be available remotely via ZOOM.
It is our intent to move beyond the lecture format, and we ask our speakers to plan intentional interactions as a part of the presentation. We encourage presenters to consider incorporating a variety of presentation tools, interactive strategies, and methods used to engage and inform audience participation. Preference will be given to proposals that illustrate relevance to the conference theme, as well as to presentations that connect to culturally responsive education, equity in education and/or Alaska Native education issues, participant engagement, creativity and demonstrated expertise related to the topic. Virtual or distance-delivered presentations will be considered for our hybrid conference which will also include a virtual thread.
We have presentation slots of 1.5 hours and 1 hour in length, as well as 1.5 hour virtual slots, to allow you to choose the format that works best for you. Longer presentations can be accommodated with back-to-back time slots, please indicate in your proposal if you'd like to explore that option.
Benefits for your participation include: contributing to the field of culturally relevant and place-based education, showcasing effective professional practice, networking with experts, obtaining feedback from colleagues, and a speaking fee.
Please contact Jamie Shanley at Jamie.Shanley@sealaska.com for assistance or questions.
