ISPP Early Career Scholar Travel Award Application
2024 ISPP Annual Meeting

The International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP) Early Career Committee is pleased to announce the 2024 Early Career Scholar Travel Award Competition. Up to nineteen (19) awards of a maximum of $500-$1000 USD each will be awarded to Early Career Scholars for travel to the ISPP annual meeting in Santiago, Chile, July 4th – 6th, 2024.

Eligibility Requirements:
1.    The applicant should have a valid ISPP membership.
2.    The applicant must be an Early Career Scholar (i.e., undergraduate, graduate student or person within 8 years post-graduate career).
3.    The applicant must be first or sole author on an accepted poster, blitz, or paper presentation.
4.    The applicant must attend the 2024 ISPP annual meeting to receive the award.
5.    The applicant must not have been awarded the Travel Grant in previous years. Past winners are not eligible to submit an application.
6.    For awards over $500 USD (up to $1000 USD), applicants must be of demonstrably low socio-economic backgrounds.

Application Procedure and Deadline:
To be considered for a travel award, the following materials must be submitted:
1.    A completed Travel Award Application.
2.    A budget plan (as part of the online application).
3.    A separate completed Diversity Application (link also available at the end of the current Travel Award Application).

Application Deadline:  March 5, 2024 (all submitted on March 5 will be taken into consideration)

Submit the application form and the budget plan on our online application form:

Decision Process and Notification:
Applications will be reviewed by the ECC Travel Award Committee. Decisions will be based on the financial needs of the applicant and diversity scoring. Awards of up to $1000 USD will only be offered to individuals of demonstrably low socio-economic backgrounds. Accommodation costs are not included in the calculation, but will be reimbursed along with travel costs up to the amount of the award ($500 USD/$1000 USD). Conference registration costs will not be reimbursed. Winners will be notified by e-mail by March 8, 2024.

Award Disbursement:
Awards will be given as reimbursements to recipients following the conclusion of the annual conference. Recipients should be prepared to submit receipts for travel costs incurred (e.g., airline tickets). Recipients will receive the amount equivalent to their travel costs, up to $500 USD ($1000 USD for those eligible) depending on their needs (if travel costs are less than the maximum limits the recipient will receive an amount equal to their travel expenses). Those who are in the ISPP Academy can apply for the Travel Award, but are eligible to receive reimbursement for their travel and accommodation costs only for the dates of the main conference and not for the Academy dates. Unfortunately, we are not able to cover all expenses and strongly encourage applicants to search for additional sources of funding.

For any inquiries about the travel awards you may contact the Travel Award Committee at ecc@ispp.org.

Sincerely,
Myrto Pantazi

Diversity score
This year, like the previous ones, the ISPP and ECC agreed to make stronger efforts to diversify the awardee pool. To be able to do that, we need additional information on questions that might be sensitive. To assure data protection, we prepared a short separate survey that we kindly ask you to fill out. Please follow this link after you submit the Travel award application form to reach the diversity survey.
