A Little About You
Thank you for your interest! In this next step we just want to get to know you. This form is the first step in a two-step application process. After reviewing each application, the coordinators may send you an email with the option to sign up for an interview to become a mentor. Please be aware that there will be a background check conducted as this position requires you to work with minors.

As mentioned in our email, the GIRLS Power program is a mentorship program for middle school girls in the Ames and Nevada area. There will be roughly two formal meetings each month, always on a Sunday. There may be other optional events such as Bonding Nights. Sunday afternoon meetings will ALWAYS be from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Please see a complete list of dates below.

      • Sleepover
November 17th (11/17/19)
December 6th (12/6/19)

We will do our best to keep each of these meeting dates. If a date is changed, the coordinators will let the mentors and parents know ASAP.

YWCA mentors are expected to attend each Sunday meeting in addition to the sleepover. Mentors are required to spend one-on-one time with their mentee for at least TWO HOURS per month. Our meetings are intended to raise the mentees' self-esteem and promote a sense of comradery among the girls. These meetings are intended to be educational and fun as they are a crucial part of the program.

Mentors are not required to pay for their mentee's food or activities. Mentors are not required to have a car and all meeting locations will be on CyRide routes. Please note that this is 100% volunteer and there will be no financial compensation.
