Science Film Festival 2020
Dear Principals, Teachers and Parents,

On behalf of the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Mumbai, I am excited to share with you news of the International Science Film Festival 2020! Now in its fourth year in Mumbai, the festival has been adapted in response to our unprecedented time and will be hosted fully online, from October 01 to December 20, 2020. As always, the festival is free and open to all.

About the Festival

The Science Film Festival brings science to the screen: entertaining, creative, exciting - and enriching. A celebration of science communication, the festival aims to make science accessible to a broad public and demonstrate that science can be fun. In cooperation with local partners it promotes science literacy and facilitates awareness of contemporary scientific, technological and environmental issues through international films and accompanying educational activities. The Science Film Festival has grown considerably since its first edition in 2005, becoming the largest event of its kind and one of the biggest film festivals worldwide in terms of audience reach. In 2020, the festival will take place internationally in over 30 countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa from October 01 to December 20, 2020.

Theme 2020: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This year's theme is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by 193 countries as a vision for the world in 2030. This vision, outlined in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is our shared blueprint for a sustainable future. In cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Science Film Festival aims to explore these possibilities through an international selection of films on science, technology and the environment for the betterment of people and planet.

The films on view in South Asia are categorised for the following age groups:
2 Films for Early Learners (5-8 yrs)
7 Films for Primary Section (9-11 yrs)
