Freeness in a time of isolation
Hello my family of improvisers. Each day your sharings on my various streams have inspired me, even during these complex times, when our gigs and careers are put on hold, you are all continuing to make, share, and open up conversations.

This form is in place for you to link me to places where you are making things. During your time stuck inside, you are making sounds, writings, responses, and creative magics. I would love to see it all.

As some of you might know I am a PhD researcher at Huddersfield University on the ERC IRiMaS (Interactive Research in Music as Sound) project. My research is in free improvisation ensembles, what I am calling "The Improvisers Cookbook"
For more about this project go here-

My plans to begin my case studies for my research this year has had to change, but to me this global problem has provided me with linings of love. Love for this community which has always been at the front lines of social realities, and this pandemic has proven no different. Therefore I would be very grateful if you would be willing to share your work with me here, to be included within the ever growing 'Mushwork' which is what I call this magical underground web of a community.

What you share with me in this form will be included within the interactive software that will be the product of my PhD, a large archive of collected moments, gathering, and sharing collisions in time, practice, and music. I would love to have your work, your voice, and your reality shared within this project.

Please pass this around widely along the never-ending threads of this vast community, and thank you ever for your making.

(There are no limitations on what types of things you can send me, as I define 'free improvisation' from whatever your truth is. In fact I am happy when you challenge me to continue to expand my understanding of what freedoms we have in our creations, whether they be sonic, unseen, brutally real, moving and unstoppable, or beyond my imagination)
