Welcome to The King's Academy Homework Club!
In order for students to have excellent study skills, they must learn them!  In Homework Club we will teach students how to get in the habit of checking Google Classroom every day, managing their time wisely, keeping their binders and backpacks organized, and working on the two most difficult assignments first. This does not all happen overnight.  Don't expect your child to come to Homework Club twice and have excellent study skills. It takes time but I believe that if they work hard during Homework Club, you and your child will see an improvement within the first two months.

What goes on during Homework Club?
Tutors...
- Help students stay organized and use their time wisely
- Help students complete their two most difficult assignments
- Check homework for accuracy and neatness
- Teach students how to look over their work and make corrections
- Help students comprehend their assignments

If your child has a lot of homework, some homework will need to be done at home.  However, we will try to get the most difficult assignments done in Homework Club, so that when the students get home, they have some easier assignments to complete.  Also, if students finish their work early, they will not be able to color, read comic books, chat with friends, etc.  Free time will be focused on educational goals and/or areas that they need to improve on (e.g. reading comprehension, organization, and study skills).
Please note: Tutors will check your child's work for completeness and accuracy, and provide guidance on how to correct mistakes. Tutors will NOT do homework for the students, sit next to them every minute, or correct every single mistake on every assignment.  Instead, tutors will help your child take responsibility for their homework and learn how to study successfully. *
Required
On days when your child completes homework assignments early, or when no homework is assigned, students will be instructed to study ahead for tests, read ahead in textbooks, or work on upcoming projects. The goal is to help them become resourceful and proactive learners. *
Required
By the End of the Semester
You and your child should see an improvement in organization and study skills.  Many students should see an improvement in their grades.  But most of all, there should be less anxiety about homework.
By the End of the School Year
Homework should no longer be an issue at home, and students should be able to work more independently.  All students should see an improvement and feel more confident in their school work.
