We are excited to invite you to apply to our AI Safety courses this spring!

They are developed with insights from leading AI experts, and offer a foundational understanding of the advancing landscape of AI Safety.

The courses are valuable whether you are seriously considering pursuing a career in AI Safety, or you just want to explore the field.

This project is a collaborative initiative across the Baltic and Nordic regions. It is orchestrated by over 20 groups of engaged minds from different universities all across the world!

Course Details:
- Start Week: Week 10 
- Duration: 8 weeks
- Weekly Commitment: 3-4 hours
- Location: Bergen city centre
- Price: Free
- Language: Norwegian / English

Courses:
- AI Governance: Dive into the world of policies, regulations, and agreements that ensure responsible AI development.
- AI Alignment: Explore technical methods that align AI behaviors with human values.

Course Structure:
- Weekly Readings (Weeks 1-8): Each week unfolds with a set of curated materials on specific AI Safety topics, formulated by experts in the domain.
- Discussion Sessions: Accompanying the readings, these sessions foster deeper comprehension, allowing for robust discussions and query resolution. Sessions are, hosted at Det Akademiske Kvarter, and will be complemented by refreshments.
- Optional Individual Projects (Weeks 9-12): The final four weeks are dedicated to individual projects or skill building, allowing participants to delve deeper into a specific area of interest within AI Safety.
- Research Retreat: Get the chance to join a five-day retreat at the start of next year, alongside participants from all collaborating groups. While we wish to accommodate everyone, please note that due to logistical constraints, not all applicants may be able to join the retreat. The retreat is free.

We have a limited number of spots for the in-person AISF in Bergen. There will also be virtual groups, for which we have greater capacity. You can enter your preference for in-person or virtual below.

Prerequisites:
- Alignment: calculus is beneficial, but not necessary.
- Governance: none.
