Sanctuary Faith/Lay Leader Sign on Letter To President Biden
As faith leaders walking alongside Sanctuary leaders risking everything to stay united with their families, we ask you, President Biden and Vice President Harris, to grant each one of those persons living in Sanctuary immediate relief from deportation while expanding favorable prosecutorial discretion guidelines to assist in deportation relief for each Sanctuary leader. In addition to the liberation of all people living in Sanctuary, we call upon your administration to do the following:

-We call for a moratorium on all deportations to create new guidelines that can put a stop to deportations and family separation.
-Immediate removal of all fines issued by ICE to those claiming public Sanctuary.
-Honor the “sensitive locations” and expand guidelines to include: health care facilities; schools and school bus stops; places that provide assistance for people such as children, pregnant women, and abuse victims; places that provide disaster or emergency services; places of worship; courthouses and lawyers' offices; and public assistance offices.
-Work to ensure all private bills for people facing deportation in Congress are granted relief from deportation.
-Assist in implementing community based alternatives to detention without the use of ankle monitors or other forms of surveillance that violate an individual's privacy.
-Strengthen the waiver process for the three, ten year and permanent bars to ensure citizens are able to petition for their loved ones.
-Ensure that all those who were deported under the Trump administration will have an opportunity to come back and reunite with their families through humanitarian parole.
-Protect and expand the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival and Temporary Protected Status and ensure beneficiaries from these programs remain safe from deportation.
-The Biden-Harris administration shall work with Congress to pass legislation that will create a pathway for citizenship for all undocumented people and support such provisions being included in the reconciliation process.

The demands in this letter come from our core values of our faith to welcome and love all people and from the first hand experience of all the Sanctuary leaders who have served as prophets in their own time to stand up for justice, compassion and equity.
