Three classes to teach you how to grow a Fall & Winter Garden! 

This course, focused on cool weather crops, is divided into 3 (2-hour) classes. Each class is offered twice. The course will take place in July, August, and September to give you time to prepare for the cooler weather crops.

Choose classes to take, or take the entire course:
$55 per class, OR
$150 for the entire course. Course purchase includes all 3 classes, Clyde's Garden Planner, and a binder for all handouts and information.

Class One: Understanding the Fall Garden and Starting Seeds
In this class, we will explore:

Cool weather crops; what grows best and why
Setting goals & realistic expectations
Direct sowing vs. starting seeds indoors or in a controlled environment 
Starting seeds indoors and/or outdoors- what you need and what problems you may face
Hardening off and proper transplanting

Class Two: Understanding Soil Needs, Amendments, and Preparing Beds
In this class, we will explore:

Soil vs. dirt
Compost: what to know and how to start
Soil amendments – specifically to get the best root vegetables and brassicas
Fertilizers, compost, and worm castings
Proper soil for raised beds and in-ground spaces
Preparing and protecting your garden for the colder months
Amending soil and beds for transition between crops and seasons

Class Three: Maintaining and Harvesting the Garden
In this class, we will explore:

Common problems in the garden
Pest and weather pressure during the colder months
Weeds and disease
Organic pesticide solutions
Mulching and watering needs
Best tools for the job
Proper harvesting time and techniques for storage
