Cornell Youth Investigators Application 2024
Thank you for applying to the Cornell Youth Investigators Program at North Rockland High School!

About the Program: Cornell Youth Investigators is a hands-on social science experience where 9th grade students will gain research knowledge and skills and learn how to use those skills to solve real-life problems. 
The program is sponsored by the Cornell University Program for Research on Youth Development and Engagement (PRYDE) and will be facilitated by Cornell Cooperative Extension Rockland 4-H Educator, Kristin Ruggiero.

When: Thursdays, Period 9 (2:12pm - 3:00pm), March 7 - May 30*
*Exceptions: March 28, April 4, and May 23. In case of session cancellations (for weather, illness, etc.), make-up days will be on June 6 and June 13.
Where: North Rockland High School (exact room TBA)
Youth Summit: Wednesday, June 26 - Friday, June 28, 2024 at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
Who: 9th grade students at NRHS who can commit to all 10 sessions and the Youth Summit

Benefits:
In this program, members will be able to:
  • Gain hands-on research knowledge and skills.
  • Attend the New York State 4-H Career Explorations: Youth Investigators Summit on Cornell University’s campus from June 26 – 28 FOR FREE. At the Youth Summit, teens will build on their skills that they learned throughout the Youth Investigators Program while also having the opportunity to connect with other youth from around the state.
  • Receive a $25 gift card for completing short pre- and post-surveys. The youth’s responses will be anonymous, and will help the coordinators evaluate program impacts on youth learning.
To be considered for this program, you must submit your application by 11:59pm on Monday, February 26, 2024.
