The Grow to Care Lab is looking for volunteer research assistants (RAs) to help with their ongoing research. A research assistant position is a training opportunity, where you will work closely
with myself (Dr. Peplak) and the lab manager(s) to develop your skills within the research
domain. The
goal is that this opportunity will build your CV and equip you with research and professional development skills. RAs are responsible for completing 8 hours of work weekly (plus one hour attendance at our mandatory weekly lab meetings). Please note that volunteer RA positions are
not paid (paid opportunities may become available in the future).
RA roles vary depending on the project, but will likely involve the following: recruiting families to participate in research, conducting interviews
with children and families as part of the data collection process, helping to put
together ethics protocols, coordinating social media posts on the lab’s social
media sites, conducting literature reviews, and organizing and processing research
data. Experience working with children and working on evenings/weekends are strongly preferred. By engaging in research, you will gain valuable skills that will likely contribute to your career success. Skills include (but are not limited to): communication skills, time management skills, data collection/management/analysis skills, team-building/leadership skills, and presentation skills.
A minimum commitment of one year is required (exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis).
A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
