Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion: Transition Program - Indigenous Story-time and Activity Series
Aanii - Bienvenue - Welcome! Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion, in collaboration with community members of Serpent River First Nations, is hosting a FREE Virtual Story-time and Activity Series for any current Kindergarten families, any newly-registered Kindergarten families, as well as any interested pre-school/Kindergarten families in the communities of Elliot Lake and Serpent River. The 4 session series will take place on the following dates: May 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th, with a different story, teaching and/or activity each week! SESSION TWO: May 12th 2021 from 6:30pm - 7:00pm! This session will be facilitated by well known local story-teller and artist, Isaac Murdoch, from Serpent River First Nations. Join Isaac for a live puppet show and learn about the wampum belts, the land, and the people. Opportunities to ask questions will be made available after the show! *

SESSION THREE: May 19th 2021 from 6:15pm - 7:00pm! This session will be facilitated by former Language Teacher and Community Mentor, Jeannette Commanda, from Serpent River First Nations. Join Jeannette as she reads the story 'Bear Listens'. We will learn about wisdom and the importance of nature! *

SESSION FOUR: May 26th 2021 from 6:15pm - 7:00pm! This session will be facilitated by Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion's Native as a Second Language Teacher, Marlene Essex, and Cultural Coordinator, Lee Simpson-Johnston of Serpent River First Nations. Join Marlene as she reads 'Giving Thanks', learning about the importance of gratitude. Lee will share a drum teaching and song as well. *
