Each Executive Chair position is ideally a position held for two years, with the exception of 5th Grade Activities, which is a one-year position for a parent of a fifth grade student.

Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings throughout the school year. Of course, we welcome board members who currently work, but since a quorum is needed at each Executive board meeting in order to hold a vote, attendance is encouraged as it is important in order to carry out PTA business. Meetings are typically held either one Tuesday or Wednesday morning at the end of each month.

Of course you are welcome to find a co-chair to help you with your position if desired. This co-chair would not be a voting position (ie they do not come to monthly board meetings) but is free to help carry out responsibilities and be involved otherwise. This can help with positions such as Spirit Store, Hospitality, etc.

Being that our annual Carnival is what funds so many things for our PTA and school, every member of the executive board is expected to contribute to the success of carnival in two or more of the following ways: actively serving on a Carnival committee; taking a volunteer shift at the event; and donating/procuring donations for the raffle and/or auction.

Board members must be paid PTA members at Vineyard Ranch Elementary. Board members must attend a two-part Leadership training. Part 1 is done on the Internet at your convenience and Part 2 is held at various locations/various times (you only attend one of the Part 2 sessions). Board members are required to complete this two-part training only once in their PTA service. Some positions have additional off-campus meeting(s).
