Nurse Mentorship Program
Web-Based Mentorship Program

My name is Flora Sayson, I am a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Educator. I am pursuing my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am conducting a web-based mentorship program for Filipino nurses with less than five years of Nevada nursing experience as part of my doctoral studies.

For many foreign graduate nurses, specifically Filipino nurses, transition in the Nevada healthcare setting is complex, challenging, stressful, and intimidating.

I hope to learn if a web-based mentorship program will reduce stress and anxiety.

If you volunteer to be in this DNP scholarly project, you will be asked to participate in a ten-week web-based mentorship program wherein you will have an opportunity to talk to a mentor/mentee.

Your participation should take about thirty to sixty minutes per week starting on the week of September 7, 2020 to the week of November 9, 2020.

This project is considered to be minimal risk of harm. This means the risks of your participation in the research are similar in type or intensity to what you encounter during your daily activities. You may experience sharing stories of your nursing work.

The project leaders, Orvis School of Nursing, the Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada and the University of Nevada, Reno will treat your identity and the information collected about you with professional standards of confidentiality and protect it to the extent allowed by law. You will not be personally identified in any reports or publications that may result from this study. The US Department of Health and Human Services, the University of Nevada, Reno Research Integrity Office, and the Institutional Review Board may look at your study records.

You may ask questions of the project leader at any time by calling Flora Sayson at 646-289-1203 or by sending an email to fsayson@nevada.unr.edu

Your participation in this DNP scholarly project is completely voluntary. You may stop at any time. Declining to participate or stopping your participation will not have any negative effects on your work. You may ask about your rights as a research participant. If you have questions, concerns, or complaints about this project, you may report them (anonymously if you so choose) by calling the University of Nevada, Reno Research Integrity Office at 775.327.2368.

If this applies to you, please see the attached program flyer for more information of how to avail of this mentorship program.

Thank you for your participation,

Flora Sayson, MS, RN
