May 8 Rally for Education Field Trip

Dear Middle School Family,

As you may have heard, the Oregon Education Association (the Oregon state teachers' union) is hosting a state-wide walk-out on May 8 to send a strong message to state legislators that they need to "fully fund education" in Oregon. More information about the walkout can be found here: https://www.may8forstudents.org/.

In Eugene, the Eugene Education Association (4J's teachers' union) is hosting a rally at the Park Blocks (Saturday Market) at 11am on Wednesday, May 8. The Ridgeline Middle School team is planning to take the entire middle school class on a walking field trip to observe the rally as part of our US Civics unit in Humanities.

Please fill out this Google Form granting your student permission to participate, and indicate on the form whether you would like to join us. It's a unique opportunity for our students to see peaceful democracy in action, and to reflect on the effectiveness of this sort of civic action.
