Student Selected Commencement Speaker Application
Thank you for your interest in being the student speaker at the 2021 Commencement Ceremony, which will be a  car processional through campus. To be considered, you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, be graduating this academic year, and be in good standing with the College. In addition, the speech must embody the spirit of the graduating class and represent UCC. The ideal candidate will possess strong public speaking skills and be able to deliver a strong message to the graduating class, as well as to the UCC community.

The speech must embody the spirit of the graduating class and represent UCC. The ideal candidate will possess strong public speaking skills and be able to deliver a strong message to the graduating class, as well as to the UCC community. The student speaker must be able to captivate the audience and bring to the table shared references of common experiences, attended events, future hopes for the graduating class, and universal themes as experienced by UCC students. The speaker should avoid: Making a speech too personal and specific to their own experience; a generic speech that would apply to any/all institutions; comedic monologue; and a personal ideological speech.
