PTS SEPAC Parent Representative Survey
Thank you for your interest in joining the PTS Special Education Advisory Committee!

Portage Township Schools (PTS) and the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) is a parent-driven group that provides input and makes recommendations on Special Education policy, practices, programs and services that have an impact on students with disabilities and their families. SEPAC parent representatives will act as liaisons to share comments/concerns, however do not have formal authority to issue directives or set policy. We work collaboratively with the PTS Special Education Administrators to create change.  Parent participation is one of the six components of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

Please keep in mind, this is a newly created group and depending on responses, space may be limited. There will be a learning process on how it is run and what our focus will be on.  Patience is key.  Change does not happen overnight, but this is a step in the right direction and any progress is an achievement.

We are looking for dedicated and involved individuals to represent students from preschool through age 22 (IDEA part B) who are willing to commit the time for the betterment of our PTS students.  PTS SEPAC representatives are asked to maintain group participation through the duration of the academic year from 7/1-6/30.  

Monthly meetings may be held with PTS Special Education Administrators. 

Other meetings/and or events may occur and some group discussion outside of meetings may be necessary.
