Become a Chess Instructor
The Cornell University Chess Club offers free chess lessons to K-12 Ithaca-area students every semester!

We are looking for members who are interested in becoming a member of our Outreach Team. No prior teaching experience is required, we only expect passion for chess and the willingness to share it with others.

This semester, we will be having virtual and in-person sessions:
Virtual - The virtual sessions were historically held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6pm. Most instructors choose one of these two timeslots and consistently teach during said timeslot for the whole semester.
****Times may change based on student and teacher availability, so please anticipate being flexible with your time.

In-PersonThe team attends Ithaca Highs chool's chess club every Thursday from 3:45-4:45pm. Expect the time commitment to be 3:30-5pm. We need a new driver who will be available during this time, gas will be reimbursed
*** if there are no available drivers, Kimmy will sponsor uber rides to get you to and from the high school.

Please fill out the information below if you would like to teach chess! Once we hear back from an ample number of people, I will reach out again to set up a quick meeting overviewing he program and teaching.

We are looking forward to continuing the program this semester and hope to hear from many of you soon.
