A Note from Councilmember Cara Honzak to the City of Takoma Park Ward 5 Residents and Between the Creeks neighbors from across Flower Avenue with whom I have shared this survey:
Montgomery Parks recently released a request for public input for Capital Improvements for fiscal years 2025-2030. I would like to gather our shared priorities to inform my own inputs as your representative, in part using the survey below. Please complete my survey by this Saturday, Sept. 2nd at midnight. Then, I will share the results of this survey with you in case you would like to use the results to help advocate to Parks for shared neighborhood priorities. Finally- on or before SEPT. 7TH- please consider sending your ideas directly to Montgomery Parks at https://communityfeedback.opengov.com/portals/portal260/Issue_13084.

Adult Exercise Equipment

Shade Structure for Kennebec-Houston-Sligo Playground

Community Bulletin Board at Shade Structure for Kennebec-Houston-Sligo Playground

Open Green Space- as much as possible

Small Performance Stage/Community Gathering Area

Improved Picnic Tables/BBQ Grills/More of them

Water Fountain and/or Water Play Area for Children (Cooling Area in Face of Increasing Temps)

Community Food Forest

Bird/Native Plan Education Along Path

Community Art Project Under the Carroll Bridge (where there is currently graffiti that began after the racially driven Buffalo shootings)

Bike Racks at Kennebec-Sligo-Houston play area

Improved Pedestrian Access (think bridges or crosswalks) to Sligo Creek Path

Improved Pathway (this is already scheduled/funded but feel free to rank)

Repair railings along Sligo Creek Parkway
