About Dr. Minhua Ling
Dr. Minhua Ling is currently an Associate Professor from the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the Graduate Institute. She is the author of The Inconvenient Generation: Migrant Youth Coming of Age on Shanghai’s Edge. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Yale University.

As an esteemed scholar in anthropology and sociology, with a profound focus on China, Dr. Ling brings forth her extensive expertise and personal experiences in conducting fieldwork in East Asia. The event will delve into the realities, challenges, and nuances of undertaking field research, emphasizing the protocols and insights necessary for navigating the academic landscape of this region.

The Contemporary East Asia Studies Initiative (CEAS) is a student initiative based in The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland which aims to promote constructive dialogue on East Asia. 

Our goal is to bridge the knowledge gap by offering a platform for in-depth discussions and constructive exchanges on issues in the region by bringing together scholars, professionals, and individuals interested in East Asia to facilitate academic, professional, and cultural exchange that contributes to a better understanding of the region.
