In Summer/Fall 2018, we asked researchers their perception on how animal husbandry and experimental practices influence microbiome data variability. The manuscript is currently under review (to access preprint:
https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/778043v1; citation is also at the end of survey).
Based on the responses, we developed (and pretested) six evidence-based recommendation themes to improve study power and reproducibility in microbiome research. Here, we present such recommendations for your consideration and to quantify your perception on their potential benefits and future implementability across organizations.
The purpose of this follow-up survey:
To objectively determine if the 6-recommendations could be implemented as a framework to improve study power and reproducibility by the community at large and as a mechanism to receive feedback. Here we ask investigators to grade from 1 to 10 (1, low/poor; 10, highest/best) each of the 6 proposed recommendations based on the following:
1) sentence clarity,
2) potential impact, and
3) recommendability to others.
